a little R & R...

We just got back from a week at the beach with my husband's entire family...

The gang's all here - a rare event, considering we have two military families....
Yep, that's right, 15 kids.

One of my favorite things about the trip were the early morning bike rides I took to the beach....

I got down there by 7:15 most mornings -
just in time to enjoy the sunrise and the quietness of the morning...

I found some nice little spots around this hotel to sit and read...

Motivation to get up early?
Yep.

Proof that seagulls and humans simultaneously roamed the earth...

There's a "golden hour" in the morning, as well as in the afternoon....
Nice.

The beach is a great place to read the Word...

I found this bush on the bike path on the way to the beach. It was loaded with these compact clusters of purple berries. Gorgeous! Do any of you happen to know the name of this bush? I'd love to know...

The most impressive sand castle I found on one of my bike rides...

The most impressive dog I met...
"Susy"
Isn't she gorgeous?
She's a giant schnauzer.

Here I am with my sunburnt lips and nose... ouch!

I'm definitely going to miss this....
Nice to be home though.
Back to the common life....

  1. I do love a week at Hilton Head. The only place I've ever had nothing to do but relax. We've gone twice, and often dream about going again.

I do the same thing. I get up so I can watch the sun rise, read God's Word, and pray. And swimming while watching the sun come up is somehow amazing to me. LOL

That is a Beautyberry bush. :o) Fitting name, isn't it?

I'm so glad you got to go.

  3. Wow, absolutely beautiful photos of a wonderful time! You've motivated us to visit Hilton Head--not that we needed much :-)

The family pic is priceless!! And I was actually able to go through and name everyone--even though it's been TOO long since I've seen anyone! Thank you again, dear Beth, for sharing with us!

  5. Hi! I found your blog through Katy's. Try Fripp Island, S.C. just up the coast from Hilton Head. It's much less commercial than HH, if fact, you can't even get on the island unless you're staying there. The main modes of transportation are golf carts and bicycles. It's wonderful!

I've enjoyed reading your blog and will be back.
