a Wordsworth kind of day...

I am loving this glorious spring day...

Potential....

Busy bee...

Shrinking violet...

A fresh look for the inspiration board in the studio...

Resurrection Eggs - a neat way to teach children the REAL meaning of Easter...

I LOVE my string of pearls plant...
...and the luminous texture of succulents...

And a day like this calls for a little Wordsworth....

I wander'd lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the Milky Way,
They stretch'd in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed -- and gazed -- but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

- William Wordsworth

I hope you're having a lovely spring day too...

How I Spent St. Paddy's Day...

Well, I've been promising you some pics of the mural I was painting this week... Started and finished it yesterday - not a full wall mural, really just some decorative painting around a doorframe and a picture frame. My client asked me to use the tree and vine found in the print you'll see in some of the photos. The pictures didn't come out as well as I was hoping, because it was in kind of a tight spot, but you get the idea...

This color is more accurate above (her walls are a lovely caramel color),
but I think you can see the vine better in this one...

And around the door...

Here are some closeups so you can see the details better...

So there you have it...
It was lovely to be able to spend the entire day just painting away....
(and yes, I did wear green - the shirt I wore was green, and I had splotches of green paint all over my painter's pants - as well as just about every other color! Happy Belated St. Patrick's Day!)

Today, I'm enjoying a day off.... cleaning my house a little, catching up on here, and maybe in a bit, reading some of my latest 2010 Booking It piece - Little Dorrit by Charles Dickens. Love it.

Hope you're having a lovely day yourself...

The rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated...

I am not, in fact, dead. Nor have I dropped off the face of the earth... just have a lot going on right now - in other words, life. Started a new job recently and have been staying busy with that.... But I'm slowly adjusting to my new routine, and hopefully will be finding some time to get back into my studio! So many ideas, so little time...

I will be doing a mural next week on my days off ("if the good Lord's willin' and the creek don't rise," as one of my professors used to say...), so I promise to have something artistic to show for myself soon.... Thanks for your patience and for hanging in there with me during my "quiet" spells.... I'll have some pics to show you soon! Meanwhile, happy March!

Next Wednesday is St. Paddy's Day.... Photobucketdon't forget to get your GREEN on!
