The Simple Woman's Daybook: January

FOR TODAY

Outside my window...
...it's dark... I've always been a night owl - it's when my brain is "on," and I usually produce my best work and think most clearly when it's late and the house is quiet.

I am thinking...
...about projects and goals for the year...
I am thankful for...
...so many things. Search for "the list that never ends" on my navigation bar to read my list...
From the kitchen...
...kale, fruit, and yogurt smoothies... (tastes better than it sounds, and BOY is it healthy!) And then homemade chocolate chip cookies... not so healthy, although I DID use whole wheat flour and oatmeal! ;o)
I am wearing...
... sweat pants, a t-shirt, fuzzy socks, slippers, and a paint-covered polartec pullover.
I am creating...
...a commissioned pet portrait in oils for a former coworker.
I am going...
...to be home for the next few days... then to a birthday party for a special little person on Friday. :o)
I am reading...
...the Bible, and The Mayflower Papers: Selected Writings of Colonial New England.

I am hoping...
...to finish several projects soon, to accomplish some personal goals this year, and to hear back from the military on whether Josh got the scholarship or not.
I am hearing...
...the snores from my four-legged, furry little studio buddy.

Around the house...
...Christmas things are all put away, the house is relatively neat, and I did a lot of little pesky "maintenance"- type things this past week.... I do need to dust and vacuum, however!
One of my favorite things...
...Josh.
A few plans for the rest of the week:
...finish the painting.
...do some sketches for an upcoming mural project.
...finish reading my book.
...make a little surprise for my niece's birthday party Friday night!
...get started on a top secret project. :o)
Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

"Too old to __(fill in the blank)___" is a state of mind.
:o)
