A big thank you...

... to all of you who came out in the rain to Art in the Park!

We had a good day at the show,
in spite of the less-than perfect weather.

(Here I am drying things off
that got a little damp during set-up
...when it rained the most, of course!)

My parents got there in time
to help us do all the last-minute set up details...
thanks, Mom and Dad!

(and thanks for the towels!)

Sold lots of prints to some lovely people,
and I hope you enjoy them!
And best of all, got to see some good friends,
who were kind enough to stick around
and help us tear everything down ... but whose picture
I did NOT get,
thanks to our being in a bit of a rush
to get some hot food at Johnny Carino's after a long, cold day!
Thanks, guys!

Watercolor Wednesday

"Busy Bee" by Beth Stone
Watercolor on Arches 140lb CP paper, 5"x7"

My latest watercolor,
which I will have available this Saturday
at Art in the Park in Jonesborough, TN.

Hope to see you there!

Hymns

I recently started a series of collages
based on some of my favorite hymns.
I have finished four so far
and plan to do more...

Here they are, so far.
I am also taking requests,
so if you have a favorite hymn
that would lend itself to a visual piece of art,
let me know!

"This Is My Father's World" by Beth Stone
Collage, Mixed Media, 11"x14"

This is my Father's world,
and to my listening ears
all nature sings, and round me rings
the music of the spheres.
This is my Father's world:
I rest me in the thought
of rocks and trees, of skies and seas;
his hand the wonders wrought.

This is my Father's world,
the birds their carols raise,
the morning light, the lily white,
declare their maker's praise.
This is my Father's world:
he shines in all that's fair;
in the rustling grass I hear him pass;
he speaks to me everywhere.

This is my Father's world.
O let me ne'er forget
that though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the ruler yet.
This is my Father's world:
why should my heart be sad?
The Lord is King; let the heavens ring!
God reigns; let the earth be glad!

(Lyrics by Maltbie D. Babcock )

"It Is Well" by Beth Stone
Collage, Mixed Media 11"x14"

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
when sorrows like sea billows roll;
whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say,
It is well, it is well with my soul.

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
let this blest assurance control,
that Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
and hath shed his own blood for my soul.

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

And, Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
the clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
the trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
even so, it is well with my soul.

(Lyrics by Horatio G. Spafford)

"The King of Love, My Shepherd Is" by Beth Stone
Collage, Mixed Media 11"x14"

The King of love my shepherd is,
Whose goodness faileth never;
I nothing lack if I am his
And he is mine forever.

Where streams of living water flow,
My ransomed soul he leadeth
And, where the verdant pastures grow,
With food celestial feedeth.

Perverse and foolish oft I strayed,
But yet in love he sought me
And on his shoulder gently laid
And home rejoicing brought me.

In death’s dark vale I fear no ill
With thee, dear Lord, beside me,
Thy rod and staff my comfort still,
Thy cross before to guide me.

Thou spredst a table in my sight;
Thine unction grace bestoweth;
And, oh, what transport of delight
From thy pure chalice floweth!

And so through all the length of days
Thy goodness faileth never.
Good Shepherd, may I sing thy praise
Within thy house forever.

(Lyrics by Henry W. Baker)
"Be Thou My Vision" by Beth Stone
Collage, Mixed Media 11"x14"

Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art.
Thou my best thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee, Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle-shield, sword for my fight,
Be Thou my dignity, Thou my delight.
Thou my soul's shelter, Thou my high tower.
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man's empty praise,
Thou mine inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of heaven, my victory won,
May I reach heaven's joys, O bright heav'ns Son!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my vision, O ruler of all.

(Lyrics by Mary E. Byrne)
