In which I made a Buttercup Bag...

Several months ago I found this gorgeous fabric at Hobby Lobby. I'd been wanting to try making a summery purse, so a few weeks ago I made this purse from the "Buttercup Bag" pattern I found on this blog. (Please note: this pattern is free to use, but she asks that you purchase the pattern/license if you plan on selling any of these bags.) The original pattern looked pretty small, so I enlarged it a bit. It's still on the small side (if you're like me and tend to carry everything but the kitchen sink in your bag), but it works well. I modified it a bit on the inside too, and added little rows of pockets on both sides:

The flower pin was very simple to make - I looked at several tutorials online, then did my own variation of several techniques. Unfortunately, I didn't take pictures of the process on any of this, but I plan on making another one for my Mom soon, and I will try to remember to take photos! I'm also working on a pattern myself for another purse, and I'm so excited about the fabric I have for it.

I really enjoyed this project... depending on how the next two purses go, I may consider adding some bags to my Etsy shop. What do you think?

Hope you're having a lovely week....

a Wordsworth kind of day...

I am loving this glorious spring day...

Potential....

Busy bee...

Shrinking violet...

A fresh look for the inspiration board in the studio...

Resurrection Eggs - a neat way to teach children the REAL meaning of Easter...

I LOVE my string of pearls plant...
...and the luminous texture of succulents...

And a day like this calls for a little Wordsworth....

I wander'd lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the Milky Way,
They stretch'd in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed -- and gazed -- but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

- William Wordsworth

I hope you're having a lovely spring day too...

Updates...

Sorry I haven't done much posting lately...
We've been quite busy.

I do have some exciting news to share with you...
I have several new prints available
on my website now,
including the 6 completed Proverbs 31 Woman prints.
I have 3 more to go,
but you can go ahead and start collecting them now...
2 sizes are available.

I've also joined Twitter,
so you can follow me on there -
you know, if you're into that sort of thing.
There's a link on my sidebar where you can add me.

Still doing the Farmer's Market on occasion,
although I won't be there this Saturday.
I'll be in New York.

To tide you over until next time,
here's the progress I've made
on the little painting I started
at the Farmer's Market
a couple of weeks ago.

This is after the first painting session,
and this is how it is now....
The flower in the middle (unpainted still) is called
a nigella
or "Love in a Mist"
which I think is a pretty name
for such a delicate flower...
Check back soon
to see what it looks like!
Hope you're having
a lovely week.

My furry little friend
has been sick this week,
so I've been nursing him.
He's doing better now,
and enjoying the sunshine.
