Well shoot, I won once before, might as well enter again, eh? ;-) Best birthday memory: That would have to be my 17th birthday when Peter drove all over town making a video of my friends wishing me happy birthday. But a close second (if not a tie) was the birthday when you (and the homeschool group) totally surprised me with the party. It's the only time I've had something like that done and you all got me good! ;-)
ReplyDeleteHAPPY 30th BIRTHDAY and may you have MANY more!
Hi Beth! I rarely win contests, but that's okay because I'm still blessed beyond anything I deserve :-)
ReplyDeleteBest birthday memory was my 37th. Our first year in Germany, and without a car. John and I and our girls took a train to Andechs, because I read about a nice day hike there to a monastery/brewery. From the train station, we tried following the trail in the book, but got very lost (typical). Ended up on a grassy hillside singing the "Sound of Music" after seeing some *real* nuns taking dips (not skinny) in a pond below us. We finally climbed up a steep hill and found the monastery, only to discover we were too late for any meals and it was about to close. I quickly bought a few postcards, to which Joy replied, "We came all this way for a postcard?!?" That's been a family saying every since! LOL!
We discovered a shuttle bus that took us back to the train station, where we all ran to catch the last train to Augsburg. Nothing like a little adventure to make my day! :-)
This year was pretty good too...living in my favourite city, Ottawa, is a gift in itself!
Thank you for this sweet way of celebrating YOUR birthday! I will be 'tweeting' you later, Linda
And I posted about it on the blog...hey, it worked last time! ;-)
ReplyDeletehttp://carriesbusynothings.blogspot.com/2010/09/giveaway.html
And since two was a winner last time, I'll throw another one in the pot this time - I posted about your blog post (and mine) on Facebook and tagged you in it. And P.S. I think you have my contact info. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI have so many wonderful birthday memories, it's hard to choose just one! I guess I'll go with last year's birthday, when I turned 17. We'd only been living here for about a year, and yet I was surrounded by the dearest of friends and had an absolute blast - I was so touched! That God would bless me with such friends is beyond me, but I'm glad He did. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, also we had planned to spend the day swimming, canoing, and doing other outdoor activities at the river, but it rained. We still had my party, here at our house, and hung out playing games and having airsoft battles! LOL, you know you have good friends when it doesn't matter what you do together, just as long you're together.
Okay I'm done now. :-) Happy birthday!
I suggested your facebook page to friends!
ReplyDeleteWhew! I'm on a roll today - I put your Etsy button on the sidebar of the blog. :-)
ReplyDeleteHi! Tweeted you Tweetie!
ReplyDeleteHmmm...Best birthday memory? I've gotta go with being 4 years old and getting a preemie Cabbage Patch Kid. I basically freaked out!!! What a dream! I want another now!!!
ReplyDeleteI liked you on FB:).
ReplyDeleteMy best birthday memories are of my kids birthdays not mine! Does that count? I remember their first bdays and cake all over their faces!

ReplyDeleteMy Best Birthday Memory: Hmmmm. Probably my 21st birthday scavenger hunt. My friends and I broke into two teams, drove all around the city looking to cross things off of a massive list and had a blast doing it! It was a great way to spend the afternoon and much more memorable than the debauchery that followed that night. :)
ReplyDeleteIf I win (which I hope I do!!) you can email me at: a.foreign.land@gmail.com
My funniest birthday memory is of the cake I received for my 18th birthday. We traditionally celebrate my birthday with a Dairy Queen ice cream cake since my birthday falls around the same time the local DQ store opens in the town where I grew up.
ReplyDeleteMom must have been gone or busy when it was time to pick out my 18th birthday cake, because Dad selected one with a huge baseball and White Sox logo that said, "Happy Birthday Paige, Go White Sox!" We aren't even White Sox fans!

Happy birthday, 30 is such a special milestone I think :) My best birthday was the year I turned 21, I was in New Zealand, and that birthday is HUGE down there. I had all my friends with me,and for the only time in my life had a real party, I felt loved and protected, safe and where I should be. It was wonderful. I adored NZ, and think of it often!

Best birthday memory... my 21st! I spent it with my three closest girlfriends, sipping martinis at a quiet place downtown Minneapolis. My birthday is in May, so in college this fell during finals week. Only a few people were out, it was a weekday night, and I'm not a big fan of crowds and crazy parties, but I do like a night with my girlfriends! It was perfect :)
ReplyDeletedoniree at gmail dot com
Stephen Sharpe...Probably my 10th birthday...a fun day at the skating rink with my friends and a new bike as a present. The same birthday I got baptized as well. Hard to beat that.
ReplyDeleteMy best birthday memory is of my 40th birthday. I unknowingly helped to plan and decorate a full blown - announcements and all Spring Fling Ball held in my own honor. Cinderella theme. My Fairy Dot Mother literally Dot Rowe revealed herself to me along with my not so ugly stepsisters Kathy Whitson, Theresa Aubrey, and Scherry Graham. My coachman picked us up after our transformation had been made complete by our wonderful Lady on Waiting Cassie Miller and off to the Ball for the night to meet Prince Charming - My husband Carter - along with a court of about 100 or more attendees. After being recieved most graciously and presented with the royal glass slippers and crown we reminisced, ate and danced the night away. One to NEVER forget! MELANIE WARDEN
ReplyDeletemy favorite birthday memory is from I think my 13th birthday party? My best friend and I decided to do a real-life version of one of my board games, which entailed my dressing up as a witch and hiding items all over my house. It was crazy, but fun!
ReplyDeletea(dot)long(at)tcu(dot)edu
My best birthday memory: my first bday spent with my husband (then-boyfriend). He surprised me by inviting some out-of-town college friends for the weekend and arranging a bunch of fun activities!
ReplyDeleteteresacline2001(at)yahoo(dot)com
Happy birthday to you! My favorite birthday memory was when my daddy filled a wagon full of hay, attached it to a tractor, and took all of us at my party on a long hayride. There was a full moon shining on us as we shivered underneath blankets in the hay. It was the end of October and quite chilly. We had so much fun that I've never forgotten it, and that was a long time ago.
ReplyDeleteYour jewelry is adorable! I'd wear the necklace with pride if I won it.
my best birthday memory was when my now husband made me a cake from scratch, and surprised me with an antique leaded-glass window he knew i coveted. nothing quite says love as a window. :-)

The day I turned 28 I was totally broke so I told my friends there's gonna be no party, no drinking, no nothing. So I was sitting in my room, watching TV when I heard the door bell. My friends came with two bottles of wine and a cake to surprise me :)
ReplyDeleteThat's my sweetest birthday memory!Because I had my friends there with me.

My favourite birthday memory is of a year when we didn't have enough money to do much to celebrate. I slept in late and when I woke up it was to my boyfriend bustling around in the kitchen, preparing all my favourite children's birthday party treats. By lunchtime, the table was covered with fairy bread, sausage rolls and other treats, it was the sweetest thing anyone's done for me.

One best birthday memory: my grandparents surprising me by bringing my best friend from an hour and a half away to visit! Another: my mom decorating my cake each year, however I wanted it!

My best birthday memory was the time my mom filled our entire living room with colorful helium balloons, and when we came home from my birthday dinner with friends we had to walk through all the bright ribbons hanging down everywhere.

My best birthday memory is from last year. It was the day before my husband left for Iraq. I felt very blessed to be able to spend his last day in the US in beautiful Mississippi. We went shopping, he bought me a diamond necklace and diamond earrings. Both were heart shaped. After our shopping trip we went to our hotel room ordered food in ate dinner together and took a nap. It was so peaceful and relaxing.

I really miss that now that we go to seperate schools... It wasn't really a big deal, but now it is something I remember.

I was having a really bad few weeks(miscarriage, car accident), pretty much the worst in memory. I was turning 30 and thought was really sad about that too. Hubby took me out for a nice breakfast and when we came home all my friends who live over 1 hour away had snuck in the house decorated, brought food and surprised me! I really needed that. They worked so hard to cheer me up!
