Winning Streak...

Wow- I've won three blog giveaways lately!
So exciting, because I never win anything - I hope this streak continues!

Yesterday I received this beautiful pendant I won from a giveaway featured on Waterwaif's Blog.

This bird's nest pendant is from Rebecca Novotny Designs, and you can visit her Etsy shop HERE.
Please stop by and check out her handmade jewelry - she makes BEAUTIFUL pieces!
Here are a few of my favorites from her shop:

You really should stop by her shop and check out her jewelry -
it's all gorgeous, and her prices are very reasonable! Great gift ideas!

Thanks again, Rebecca and Waterwaif! I love my pendant!
Hope you're having a great day!

Work in Progress...

Well, it's far from being finished, but I thought I'd show you the mural I'm working on this week....

This is after Day 1:

And this is after Day 2:

Now that I'm finished with the "background," I get to start working on the "fun" part -
all the little details, which I'll start tonight!

So stay tuned - more pictures coming soon....
(Any guesses on what critters are going on this wall?)
Hope you're having a blessed week!

What a Pig!

The mural project continues...

This was the last of the smaller murals I'm doing in this office. Today, I will be starting on the larger one.
I will post "in progress" pics this week as I work on it. Stay tuned!
Happy Monday!

It's a Major Award!

I was so excited to go to my mailbox today and discover that the prize I won from Christine Pym's blog giveaway had arrived!

I won two beautiful little original pieces (the birdies), and two postcards featuring her work (the kites and the man with the beard). And the packaging was just as cute!

Thank you, Christine! I love everything!
These pieces will be finding a special home in my studio - great inspiration!

Please stop by Christine's blog and check out her amazing work!

You've seen the sheep..... they're still there.

You've seen the cow - now he's finished.... (what is that thing in the tree???)

What's next?

A horse, of course!

And my favorite part?

...the bird's nest...

...and the little details that the kids like to look for, like bugs...
Hope you're having a lovely week.... :o)

In the Bag...

I'm not sure why, but I've been seeing several of my favorite bloggers revealing the contents of their purses lately.... At any rate, I found it fascinating and thought it looked like fun - and it also inspired me to try to make my stuff more cute and organized IN my purse. So, for what it's worth, here are the pics....

  1. Vera Bradley Wallet - it can also be a little purse - comes with a shoulder strap so you can carry it on its own.
  2. Tiny notepad featuring "Tiffany" lamp glass. Got it at some museum in Nashville that had a Tiffany glass exhibit.
  3. My "bee" tissue holder that my Mom made. (My nickname is "Bee.")
  4. Fisherman's Friend tin (stay tuned...)
  5. Gel pen
  6. Cell phone
  7. My first attempt at a lined zippered pouch. That's a bee I stamped on the corner, but I'm thinking about sewing a little applique bee over it - not sure I like how the stamp printed on the corduroy. (stay tuned on this too...)
  8. ipod with "bee" necklace case that my Mom also made. Isn't it cute? And on my ipod? Not much music - lots of sermons and books on tape (classic literature!) downloaded for FREE (oh yea!) from itunes. I LOVE itunes. My ipod is an essential during long hours of painting...
  9. My keys. The little keychain is a special kind of knot called a "monkey's paw" that my brother made. There's a marble inside. You could also use it as a weapon.
  10. Sunglasses case that I also made today...
  11. Mystery container #3 (stay tuned...)
So, in my wallet - nothing too exciting. Cash, cards, ID, business cards, checkbook, gift cards, receipts, odds and ends, etc. Normal wallet stuff. So no picture.

Inside #4 - the Fisherman's Friend tin:
My "emergency kit" -
bandaids
sewing kit
Fisherman's Friend cough drops (I'm prone to major allergy-induced coughing attacks at times - these are lifesavers...)
ibuprofen
Imodium (hoping never to need this particular stash, but it's nice to know it's there anyway.)

Inside #7: the Bee Pouch:

Female essentials
The orange pen-looking thing is spray hand-sanitizer. The label was ugly, so I taped scrapbooking paper around it. Now I love it!
Compact mirror
Comb
Small spray bottle is some type of oxy stain remover spray. Also had an ugly label, so it got the same treatment.
Nail clippers and file
Cherry vanilla lip gloss from Bath and Body Works
The little tin with the globe contains lavender salve - I made it at the Tennessee Farm Girl's herbal medicine course. It's good for a number of things, but I use it mainly for dry hands and also as a "perfume." I'm allergic to most synthetic fragrances, but this one is all natural, and I LOVE the smell of lavender.
Dental floss (pet peeve - something stuck in my teeth all day)
The Tennessee Farm Girl's Lemonade Lip Balm - love this stuff. Tastes great, all natural, doesn't sting or burn even on chapped or burnt lips, and makes your lips feel great!

And in Mystery Pouch #3:

So maybe two micro tools are a bit excessive, but one has scissors, and one had needle nose pliers, and I couldn't sacrifice either... So there they are.
Mini flashlight
Keys for my parents' house and my in-laws' cars
A tape measure

So, that's it for me.

Have a happy week!

Work in Progress...

Well, this is the mural that I showed you last time - just about finished now. I think I'm still going to go back and add some insects to the grass below, then I have to paint a clear protective top coat over the whole thing.... but it's basically finished. The equipment you see at the bottom are scales - this is in a pediatrics office.

I'm currently working on this one - it's not finished yet. Still needs some details added and touch ups here and there. So, don't worry, the cow isn't going to have those spooky, empty eyes. And neither is the spooky thing in the tree. Actually, it's supposed to be an owl.

I've only completed the backgrounds on these two. The one with the yellow field will feature pigs, the one with the purple mountains will feature a horse. Coming soon....

And some close ups of the sheep....

Hope you're having a lovely weekend....

Fa-Ding!

(That's the sound of my new blog header.... what do you think? Actually, it's the sound my father-in-law and nephews make when they flip each other in the back of the head, but I like it anyway. :o))

I've been working on a mural project all week, but unfortunately, I've forgotten to take pictures the last two nights after working (hey, it was nearly midnight and my eyes were beginning to cross- that's my excuse). So, alas, you will have to make do with this one measly picture that I took after the first day of painting.

Work in Progress

Can you guess what it's going to be? I suppose you probably can - it's not rocket surgery. ;o) It still has a ways to go according to this picture, but in reality it's already finished - pictures coming soon.

The above mural is part of a series I'm doing in the same office building in which I did the mural below a couple of years ago.

It's a fun project, and it's nice to be painting again... So stay tuned, I'll have more pictures coming soon!
